I think a big part of it depends on what my intention is with sharing a sin I committed. It’s unfortunately a HUGE problem in humanity and I really really want to help the world in any way in fighting it. I want to make the struggles that I faced in the past few years help others who are currently struggling with it.
This might not be the best example, but in some way just like how people were sharing the horrible things that Israel is doing to Palestine to shed the light on their struggles so that we can help them and convince other people(like the Canadian govt to help them too)
It’s the same with this addiction. I’m shedding the light on the horrible things that this addiction does to you and how we can stop it
After looking into it and talking to chat gpt about it. I realized that a big part of why we should not share our sins is because sharing it in some way can be done as a way to brag and in turn normalize it
I looked back at my a caption on Instagram and did notice that maybe it wasn’t the right thing to say “getting addicted to pornography was the best thing that ever happened to me”
So I rewrote that caption.
So in summary, I don’t think that I should have remained quiet but should be careful of what I share specifically the sins that should be kept between me and God. I do have to be careful of:
- how I talk about my failures
- phrase things in the right way
- what my intentions are
- only share my sins only in a selfless manner. Not to gain social status or anything of that sort
