A realization I had while reading my group’s study plans

  • As I was going through people’s study plans, I couldn’t help but notice that people either:
    • didn’t have a strong ‘why’ behind what they decided to study or
    • they were not willing to share their ‘why’
  • I can’t see myself working on something when I don’t have a strong ‘why’ behind it

Post-reading

  • another difference I noticed was the fact that I learn almost all things by doing. I can’t see mySelf actually doing the study plans that most of my classmates had.
    • I need to have a deep ‘why’ behind it
    • I need to build something, not just learn with nothing to show for it
    • Based on that, I would guess self-testing would be the most effective way to learn for me, which is one of the strategies I will be trying out in my journey in becoming an automation (mini) expert, as mentioned in my study plan
  • Why I learn the way I learn

Action items

  • To always be on the lookout for any possible ways the way I learn might be harming me/limiting me.
  • Share my honest thoughts with other people(as I did with the feedback) and see what they think of that. Whether they agree or not, I think both of us would benefit from that discussion
  • Make the best of this opportunity to improve my learning abilities and explore different strategies. Taking the time now to experiment with different strategies so that I can benefit from them for the rest of my life.
    • I can foresee it being hard to get out of my routine and study habits, but it won’t get easier anytime later. Now is the best time to invest some time in exploring different strategies.
