- we’re so fragile. Death can occur to us at any moment. There are A MILLION ways to die. The author, who seems to be extremely ambitious like me, was a neurosurgeon in a quest to fulfill his purpose until he was suddenly faced with cancer.
- a one thing that resonated with me the most was reflecting on how he spent his last 20ish years maximizing his potential. And now everything he built for himself is slowly deteriorating like his body
- another thing that I related to was how his weakened physical abilities affected his Self-esteem
- he’s always been amused by death. In some way, he’s been given the gift of experiencing it firsthand, yet when he was living that life. He felt too weak and lost.
- he came to terms with the fact that he won’t be able to become a researcher. For him to create impact and make it worthwhile, it required him to be in that field for over twenty years.
- he had to be honest with himself and had to make a sacrifice
- It was comforting for him to write/document what he’s going through. I guess that makes sense. Gives a reason for your pain
