Most of us are not in control of our lives whatsoever.

No matter how much you try to be, your environment is working harder than your motivation ever could.

This is why you hear so many people get a burst of motivation to lock in once they move to San Francisco It’s not magic. It’s the environment.

But environment isn’t just about who you surround yourself with. It’s also about what you surround yourself with: 🍕 Physically: snacks within arm’s reach, a phone on your work desk, notifications pulling your attention every few minutes 📱 Digitally: social media feeds, music, podcasts, books.

As Robin Guo, an investor in a16z said “Social media algorithms are not good or bad; they’re simply reflections of your internal self.”

Your inputs shape your identity more than most people think, especially if you live on the internet (Gen Z gang). So take advantage of that

Some people are not even aware/mindful of what they’re feeding their mind through the content they consume, but there are several simple ways you can fix that

That’s why I use a very simple system for YouTube:

👉 I only watch videos from my Watch Later playlist. This gives me a moment to pause twice — once before adding, and again before watching.

It might seem small, but it changed how intentional I’ve become about what I consume.
