Tell us about yourself

- Over the past year, I’ve spent 800 + hours building two open‑source apps (Exo & Orbit) and 400 + hours creating 25 + videos (while being a ft student). Now with GenAI and AI Agents, it’s unlocking a whole new dimension of consumer social that is growing and changing by the day and I have wild ideas that I’d like to bring to life
Describe what you’re building in one sentence
A fourth dimension to the world where you literally bump into the people who can transform your life (one of the many ideas I’m exploring)
What’s the most impressive traction you have so far?
- My university reached out to me to write an article about me: https://rami-maalouf.tech/uc-orbit-article
- They also did a video interview: https://rami-maalouf.tech/uc-orbit-vid

- It led to a local news feature: https://rami-maalouf.tech/livewire

What convinced you to apply?
I discovered your YouTube channel almost a year ago, and found it absolutely crazy that I didn’t know these existed. Just a year ago, I had no idea all these things like Neo, ZFellows, Thiel, etc… existed. It started with me learning about you guys then slowly over the last few months I learned about the other accelerators/hacker houses in SF and around the world.
I slowly noticed how ‘different’ you guys were so when my friend (Izy) told me abt the off-season, I knew that I had to be a part of it.
What is the coolest thing you’ve built
FYI: Resubmitting because of reasons I share in emails I sent from “ramim66809@gmail.com”. TLDR I was going to join a startup but I got the rejection (reasons outside our control) on June 13th, and I thought by then it was too late to submit (I still submitted anyways but wasn’t expecting much so I submitted a half baked application). Here’s my initial reaction to getting the rejection: photos.app.goo.gl/V1G5JvSQGCoyrsaV6 Now I saw y’all were accepting late applications so I thought maybe I can redeem myself
Over the past year, I have spent 800+ hours building two open‑source apps (Exo & Orbit), and 400+ hours creating 25+ videos (while being a ft student). These open-source apps and the (discord) community around them represent everything I stand for: using technology to reduce the barrier to human connection. More info:

It has been a tough journey for Orbit filled with a lot of pivots. Made me realize the importance of streamlining the process of building and not going ahead of myself. Also learned to get close to my target audience and just listen and observe what they do to get closer to figuring out how to actually solve their problems. Building in the consumer social space is very tough but I can’t stop myself. This is the impact that I love to create on this world: Empowering people to reach their full potential through:
- Helping them grow their social skills and have more confidence in themselves. But that takes a lot of effort and time. But it’s all about having a growth mindset. Which is what self-improvement and my YouTube videos are all about: https://youtube.com/@ramimaalouf
- Helping them maintain & grow their friendships/relationsips. This is why I’m building Exo: https://getexo.vercel.app/
- Helping people find the perfect person to meet up with in whatever context
- This is Orbit, my current focus. I have so many ideas that I’d like to test out and hopefully get some traction during my time in the off-season so that once I go back for my final semester in university this fall, I will be launching Orbit for all the freshmen to use. So I NEED to go FAST. I can share some of them in our call but most of them revolve around leveraging GenAI to help people find the perfect person to meet up with. Kinda like what boardy.ai and series.so are doing but adding my own twist to it (like gamifying it or smthn to reduce the friction people feel when meeting new ppl)
- During my most recent hackathon, I tested out that idea by building something that would automate everything standing between people and their perfect circle? (we won best use of AI) More info:

- https://www.linkedin.com/posts/rami-m_aiagents-vectordb-ai-activity-7324825143568961536-VmTh One idea that I’m exploring is combining these 2 apps into one. So it would be both, a personal relationship manager and a finder. “The no.1 personal, AI-powered CRM specialized for university students”. That will take quite a while to build tho😬 But as always, since I have the will, I will find the way.
I’m also exploring and building in the space similar to what Kortex.co is doing—turning ideas into valuable writing in the most frictionless way. Focused on building automation tools with GenAI that help in the process of content-creation and writing in general. You can find this application and all my notes and thoughts in my Obsidian 2nd brain: https://notes.rami-maalouf.tech
I know y’all were asking for 1 thing I’ve built, but the coolest thing about me is my ability to combine all these ‘ikigais’ of mine and build something useful out of it. Hope that by the end of the off-season I would have a more narrow idea on what exactly I will continue building & polishing for the rest of August. So I’m thinking, first 1-2 weeks A LOT of testing & validating, then the next 4 weeks building & getting feedback along the way.
As mentioned in my email to you, “I’m more than willing to sleep on the floor and I can also deal with food myself. I’ll follow my grind mode diet: egg, tuna, sardines. I just wanna have an opportunity to be surrounded by a group of ppl like me”
I’m part of https://www.instagram.com/ascendcalgary but I’m looking for something more purpose-driven and builder-focused and you guys seem to have exactly the community I’m looking for (judging from the YT vids)
