https://www.reddit.com/r/UCalgary/comments/1nio5k5/i_launched_an_ai_wingman_for_ucalgary_students/ I’m in my 5th year of uni trying to solve the problems I experienced or saw other experience over the past 4 years of my degree

One of them is finding the right people to meet and finding time to chat with them even with your busy schedule

So last year I started looking for potential solutions to this problem. After 4 failed attempts, I’m proud to launch Ember, an AI that knows everything and everyone around campus I can help you at every step of the way of your university experience. By chatting with Ember, it can help you find the right people to meet and clubs to join based on your interests, ambitions, major, and even courses

Speaking of courses, one feature I’m looking to add is the ability to find the perfect course you should take based on what you are able to take and what you’re looking for (class you would enjoy or a GPA booster for e.g.)

Let me know your thoughts on this idea and Ember as a whole. Any feedback is appreciated

P.S. if you’re confused about how this would work, here’s a short video of students in UofT launching something similar https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:ugcPost:7373419700455792640/

P.P.S. If you wanna chat, you will probably find me walking around campus with a QR code on my shirt advertising either Ember or my club The Chalant Society (this aims to solve another problem uni has — esp ucalgary. TLDR; a supportive community aiming to build social confidence/charisma while also putting out some fun/positive energy around campus)

P.P.P.S. I’m looking for a cofounder who is just as obsessed as me in solving the biggest problems that genZ face in social contexts like loneliness, social anxiety, and everything revolving around that

title: I built an AI wingman for UCalgary students

I’m in my 5th year of uni, and one of the hardest problems I’ve seen (and experienced myself) is how tough it is to meet the right people and actually make time to chat with them.

So last year I started looking for solutions to this problem. After 4 failed attempts, I’m proud to launch Ember.

Think of Ember as a super-helpful friend who

  • always seems to know exactly the kind of person you’re looking to meet
  • Knows literally all the clubs around campus and which one you should join
  • (soon) find the perfect course to take based on your major and what you’ve already taken (class you would enjoy or a GPA booster for e.g.)

I’d love for you to try it and lmk your feedback

  • Does this solve a real problem for you? If not, what’s the struggle for you when it comes to making meaningful & lasting friendships/relationships?
  • What would make it more useful?
  • What might stop you from using it?

If you’re curious about how it works, the website explains it but also here’s a short video of 3 UofT students launching something similar yesterday Happy to answer any questions in the comments. If you’d rather chat 1-on-1, my DMs are open too

P.S: I’ve been also live-streaming the process on YouTube & Twitch if you wanna check that out
