Embracing Life’s Challenges

Lately, I’ve been reflecting on how I’m truly living life in a way that’s fulfilling. It’s not perfect in every aspect, but I’m embracing failure and feeling less attached to my ego. I had an interesting experience today that illustrated this. I went out with a poster inviting people to have lunch with me, and no one came up. Despite that, I’m learning that even someone like me, who often sets aside ego, still encounters resistance to reaching out. This experience is teaching me to take opportunities without overthinking.

Fearless Interactions

I had another moment today that reinforced this mindset while at the gym. A woman passed by me, and her perfume was so strong that I just had to comment on it. I shared how nice it smelled, and though the reaction was polite yet slightly puzzled, it reinforced what I’m learning: there’s nothing to lose by expressing genuine thoughts. Realizing this gave me energy to continue with my workout.

Breaking the Ice

Encouraged by my earlier interactions, I also approached a guy who looked just like Leon Pluns, a German exchange student I’ve seen a few times. This was a new step as it made me realize how initiating one conversation can diminish my ego, allowing me to live more in the moment. It’s becoming easier to ask questions I might have once avoided, whether they’re personal or otherwise.

Harnessing Optimism

Lately, I’m focusing on being more optimistic, a quality I admire in Elon Musk. By seeing people as their best selves and believing they’re willing to help me, I’ve noticed more positive interactions. When help comes, it’s often substantial and has shown me the importance of trusting in humanity. This trust feels like a personal asset, enabling me to collaborate rather than working solo.

Enjoying the Moment

In general, I’m taking life less seriously, immersing myself in the present, and enjoying the people around me. Even in the digital world, I’m sharing spontaneous and amusing thoughts through texts, hoping to bring laughter to others. Today in DC, and during conversations with friends, my comments are genuinely authentic and often hilarious, which I attribute to a bit of improv practice.

The Unexpected Connections

I also sparked a conversation with a girl wearing a Copenhagen shirt. Although she wasn’t from there, our chat flowed easily once I encouraged her to consider an exchange program, breaking the initial awkwardness. Each interaction, however small, is becoming a lesson in connection and openness.
