Onboarding

  • “I am not interested in other people’s problems”
    • That question reminded me of something I read in principles by Ray Dalio. The idea was that mission-driven people often aren’t interested in everyday personal problems, but they care deeply about solving the problems that fit their vision
    • Jobs and Elon are the best examples of that. I was not sure how to answer that question for that reason. Because there are a few things that I genuinely do care about, but a lot of other things that I absolutely don’t
  • for ranking values, one suggestion I have is providing examples of what it means to have these different values. e.g. “I get energized when the people I care about are cheering & supporting me” It makes it easier for the user to figure out which one aligns with who they are the most. Because I found myself reflecting a lot as I tried to answer that q
  • also, I poured my heart out for the first open end question and then as I’m trying to close the keyboard, I accidentally swiped back which erased my text response. There are a few things that can def be improved here in terms of UX. Moving back and forward between questions should be more intuitive and obvious
  • Aside from that, I liked the survey, short and sweet. Ends with an analysis and “personality type”. Several apps do that right after onboarding to make them feel accomplished
    • it also gives the user a glimpse of the power of “quests”💯

Post-onboarding

  • I think it’ll be a good idea to give off a vibe that the app is growing with you. The most obvious way to do that is what’s a lot of mobile apps are doing these days. Having some sort of animal or something that grows with you. But if the metrics show a good % of users who remain active, then maybe it’s not needed. Maybe a simple & unobtrusive ‘XP’ system could help if you guys plan to get the AI to hold people accountable for their tasks. Could be something like a habit tracker
  • Accountability also ties back to my next thought. A lot of ppl struggle to find buddies to hold them accountable, and sometimes these things are too private to share to other. The AI could try to replace that. Or the Purpose community could
  • There’s def a lot of benefits to having a community aspect but it’s a lil tricky since purpose is supposed to be this “private” AI coach. The simplest way to start is to start a discord or smthn and naturally see what members gravitate towards doing together in there.
    • One thing I’m so confident will happen in these servers is people will start asking “Anyone else living in <where_they_live>?”. People wanna surround themselves with other users of Purpose since being a Purpose user reveals so much of your personality so people will instantly connect through that
  • 2 things I’m bullish on in life: IRL communities & purpose.app
  • It would be nice if my responses are saved somewhere that I can access back easily. Doesn’t have to be a main page. What I did was write my responses in my Obsidian fault and then copy paste it into the app. I don’t know if other people care about storing their responses to look back at later, but I do.
  • Also a voice feature would be cool. Not too hard to set up both within the app and also as a phone number
  • I was waiting on someone credible to work on this problem. I woulda loved to build something like that but I didn’t wanna rely on pseudo-science/psychology and I didn’t have the right connections to build it with experts. I’m glad y’all r tackling this problem. If there’s any way I can be part of this mission, I’d love to help. For starters, I can invest a few thousand dollars into y’all😅 (wish i can do more)
  • you guys mentioned that you’re using react native a few months back which makes sense because the website is using react. but the mobile app feels just like a flutter app lol. Ik this is an MVP and you guys are still testing out the idea, but honestly the UX/UI imo is the main thing holding the product back at this stage. GenZers love using smooth products. Best e.g. is linear.app vs Jira. They both have the same functionality, but one of them feels good to use, while the other makes you feel like shit😩 I’m guessing GenZ is not your ICP rn since it’s hard to get them to pay and millennials are more forgiving when it comes to UX/UI
