Describe a project that you’ve worked on in the past or are currently working on:
For over 6 months I have been actively researching, building and spreading an app that I call Orbit which is fully open-source for now
I have spent >226 hours on the code and several dozens of hours on research, testing, and interviewing target users to understand how to build a software that can help empower every university student the ability to find and approach other people who share similar interests & who they really are on the inside. Ultimately helping each one of us create lifelong friendships/relationships.
I generally love to build things that directly align with my purpose, which is heavily influenced by my upbringing and the struggles that I used to face as a kid. In the case of Orbit, it was because I used to struggle with finding and making good friends when I first came to university
I use hackathons as a way to explore new project ideas because it’s a perfect way to get validation on an idea from sponsors and other hackers
What’s the best community you’ve been a part of?
- Imma bet on the fact that no other application mentioned improv for this question. FYI: runner up is a sports community: Bouldering, jiu jitsu, running, gym
- I started doing improv end of last year. Fast forward to now, it has significantly helped me in several aspects of my life including:
- Trusting myself/confidence in social situations
- Presentation skills/Public speaking
- Communication skills
- I advocate for it so much that I had to make a YouTube video for it: https://youtu.be/R6OnGTV2vRs
- It would take too much space to put everything I learned in here but TLDR: To learn and get better at improv is to get better at living life. Here are a few notable notes that I have around that topic:
