For this week, as I mentioned in the previous reflection, I wanted to find how I can reduce the friction of learning in my life, so I can learn from every experience that I go through and leave no knowledge behind. I luckily stumbled upon a YouTube video talking about realtime API by OpenAI and this is where my automation idea came to fruition:
Using a speech to speech LLM service that has access to your daily note journal which contains a list of questions that help me get into a reflective state (more on it’s importance later The importance of reflections). The LLM acts like it’s my wise advisor that helps me reflect on my day by having a conversation rather than sitting and writing your thoughts out. Then by the end of the conversation, it would send me the daily note with the updated data I shared with it during the conversation.
Sent the LLM a HUGE list of messages from the # team-formation channel where people shared a little about themselves and their experience. Asked the LLM to give me recommendations on who should be my teammates. This would have been an extremely time-consuming task if I didn’t have that realization that I can automate this.
As you’ve seen from these 2 examples, my “eye” for finding things that I can automate has improved over the past week, which is one thing I aimed to achieve. I will continue to grow that “eye”. I strive to start thinking like these YouTubers who built a whole startup/agency just by helping other people/businesses automate things.
Outside learning time
After failing for around 10 days, I managed to finally succeed in sleeping early and also have time to reflect and journal where I came up with profound insights about sleep:
Looking back at the past week. I’m extremely grateful that this class has given me a reason/opportunity to experiment with learning strategies that, for some, was extremely resistant to trying.
I’ve been somewhat successful in making these learning strategies work for me. I noticed that trying to follow someone’s learning plan or strategy is hard to succeed. Instead, it would be good to find how these learning strategies can help you in the slightest way possible. Starting small and experimenting with different ways it can be incorporated into your life is a better way to make a learning strategy work for you, rather than you working for them
Future plans
I want to continue self-testing by giving myself some sort of “pop quiz”. I don’t see myself building quizlets to improve my learning. That would be an example of how I would be working for the learning strategy. Instead, I will continue to look into how I can increase the benefits that a certain learning strategy has on me.
